Wellness exams

Picture
An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure!

Cats and dogs are masters at hiding illness and pain, in nature this would be a sign of weakness. Yearly health exams help identify any hidden diseases
or pain conditions.

Here at Glenora Family Pet Clinic our goal is to promote routine wellness plans to maintain a healthy, pain free pet for as long as possible.

Ultrasonography

We may use ultrasound in a clinical setting for simple and routine tasks such as to guide us in safely collecting   a sterile urine sample, or during emergencies to rule out  internal bleeding or other fluid collections.

Abdominal ultrasounds have become an almost indispensable  tool to aid in diagnosis of various  diseases   of pets.

Ultrasonography it is also  a reliable method to confirm  pregnancy  in dogs and cats but also to monitor the normal fetal development.

Behavior consults

Picture
Behavior issues are the number one cause for pet  relinquishment in North America.

Whether your dog is aggressive towards other dogs or humans or destroys the house when left alone. Or your cat shreds the furniture or is not using the litter box - these unwanted behaviors can often be corrected.

We can help identify cases that may have a medical component (thyroid issues, infections, pain, etc) or whether a behavior modification program and/or medication should be introduced.

Pet food and nutritional consults

We carry a large variety of veterinary prescription and maintanace diets for dogs and cats. In addition we carry over the counter products like shampoos, nutritional supplements and treats.
If your pet is on a special diet that we don't normally carry, call us and we will order it for you -  usually within a day or two!

Puppy classes

Picture
Bringing a puppy into your home is a wonderful experience but it is also a serious responsibility. Dogs that are not socialized when young can develop fearful behaviours.
Puppy classes are a wonderful opportunity for your puppy to socialize with other puppies and humans in a safe and fun environment.

Digital X-ray

Picture
Radiography is an extremely useful diagnostic tool. It may be used on a vomiting pet to check for an ingested foreign body, to check for broken bones after a traumatic event, or to check the lungs and heart of a pet who is coughing. Our state of the art digital radiography equipment allows us to quickly obtain more information about your pet's health.

Dog grooming

Smelly dogs? No worries, you can drop them off and we will bathe them for you - no more mess at home. They will be fresh and clean at pick up !

• Dentistry

Did you know that by the age of 4 most dogs and cats have some degree of dental disease?
Initial stages of gum disease (gingivitis) can be completely reversed with proper cleaning and  at home oral care ( daily brushing, dental chews, dental diets) .

For a proper cleaning and assesment of the dental disease anesthesia is required.

How about anesthesia free dental cleanings?
We believe that non professional anesthesia free cleaning is a substandard service and infact it is illegal to perform in many states.
You can read more about this practice on the
AB-VMA website.

At-home euthanasia

If you  chose to say goodbye to your pet in the comfort, privacy and peace of your home we can arrange a house call at your convenient time.
If you are struggling to know if this is  the right moment, give us a call. Our compassionate veterinarian and staff will help you in this very difficult times.
We also offer a wide variety of urns or scatter boxes.

Rabbit spay and neuter

Picture

Intact male rabbits (bucks) have obnoxious sexual mounting and urine-marking behaviors, furthermore bucks may become territorial and possessive about their environment and owners, leading to aggressive behavior.

Uterine adenocarcinoma (a type of invasive cancer) it is very common in older intact female rabbits. Certain breeds that are more than 4 years old have an incidence of 50-80% . Prevention is the key in managing this disease. Ovariohysterectomy ( removing the ovaries and uterus) for pet rabbits should be ideally  performed between 6-9 months and before they reach 2 years of age.

Click here if you want to find out more about the spay/neuter and the extra care that we provide for the bunnies for these procedures.

Guinea pig neuters

Picture
Guinea pig castration is mainly recommended to control reproduction, however it brings other health benefits: it decreases aggression between male (boar) guinea pigs, decreases the chance of urethral obstructions and decreases the risk of developing testicular tumors,

We also offer:

• General surgery
• Vaccines

Microchip implants

Even the best behaved pets can get loose and become lost.

Microchipping is a quick, safe and inexpensive method of identifying and contacting the owners of a found pet. Tattoos tend to become unreadeable over time and collars/tags can be lost.

All pets should have a microchip as means of a reliable form of permanent identification.
