Dr Nick Barbaza, DVM

Dr Nick graduated from the Cluj-Napoca Veterinary Medical School in 2005 in Transylvania, Romania.

He developed his love for animals at a very early age, when he was in middle school he started breeding fox terriers :)

He decided to leave Europe right after graduation from vet school and explore the North American continent.

He  worked in small animal practices in the Bay Area, California and Vancouver, BC prior to moving to Edmonton, AB in 2012 with his wife and son.
After working for three and a half years as an assosciate at a small animal veterinary clinic in Edmonton, he decided to fulfill his dream and  start  his very own veterinary practice here.

Dr Nick loves internal medicine and the challenges of behavioral cases and is training in small animal orthopedic surgery and ultrasonography. He believes that most canine behavior issues can be avoided with proper socialization and that's why he has implemented complimentary puppy classes at Glenora Family Pet clinic.

He believes that the visits in the clinic should be relaxing and informative for the whole family and he is promoting the the fear free concept.

In his spare time he enjoys hiking, photography and spending time with his wife Diana, his sons Eric and Alex, their cat Zack and little Papillon  Daisy.

Star Winter, Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT)

Star grew up on a farm just outside of Alsask Sk. She was homeschooled from grades 5-9 which left lots of time to play with all the different animals she acquired. Star was in canine 4-H for several years and  competed with her dog, Honey, in different things but especially excelled in agility which she later went on to teach classes in.
From 2004-2009 she attended the University of Saskatchewan  to try and get into veterinary medicine but switched gears to instead become a veterinary technician. Star was awarded the Centennial Merit Scholarship and graduated with distinction from the 2 year program from Siast Kelsey Campus in 2011. During that time she did a 5 week practicum at the Greater Vancouver Zoo and was able to increase her knowledge for exotic medicine. For the next 5 years she worked at Acadia Vet Clinic in Saskatoon as the head technician and specialized in weight consults, semen freezing, stem cell therapy and exotic animal care and treatment. She also worked closely with different rescue groups and fostered several cats and dogs over the years.
Star moved to Edmonton in 2016 to live with her husband, Rob, with her 3 cats in tow. Shortly after moving, Star was beyond excited to have the opportunity to join Dr. Nick and his wife, Diana, at their brand new clinic. She loves meeting all the new patients and owners that come in and is looking forward to the future here!

Danielle L'Heureux, RVT

Picture
Danielle is originally from a small town in British Columbia, where she spent most of her time enjoying the outdoors and helping out on the farm.

She moved to Alberta in 2005 with her family after the devastating forest fires of BC in 2003.

She attended the University of Alberta to follow her love for music in 2011, and after volunteering at the Edmonton Humane Society realized her real passion was working with animals. After her first year of tech school, she had the wonderful opportunity to work at Glenora Family Pet Clinic where she was able to apply her teachings and grow as a technician in training while in school. Danielle graduated from NAIT’s Animal Health Technology program with honours in 2018, followed by an exciting 5 week practicum at the Edmonton Humane Society, the place where her love for the industry of veterinary medicine all started. After her practicum she continued to work as a Registered Veterinary Technician for Glenora after passing the Veterinary Technician National Exam. She couldn't be happier to continue her career and grow as a technician with the GFPC team.

In her spare time she enjoys going on road trips to the mountains, spending quality time with her family and friends, tinkering on the piano and playing with her two cats at home, Spaz and Dasha(pictured).
